Invisalign Q&A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an innovative orthodontic treatment that can correct numerous alignment issues and give you a gorgeous smile. The system uses a series of clear plastic trays called aligners to gently reposition your teeth.

Invisalign can correct many of the same dental concerns as traditional braces. Some examples of treatable conditions include:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Open bite
  • Gapped teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • General misalignment

The best way to understand what Invisalign can do for you is to book a personalized consultation. You’ll even see a model of what your smile will look like after treatment is complete.

How does Invisalign work?

One of the first steps in getting Invisalign is digital intraoral scanning. This procedure replaces the need for traditional X-rays and takes just moments. There is no discomfort and no need for special preparation.

Once Dr. Song has gathered the necessary oral imaging, the Invisalign software uses that data to determine your customized treatment plan. The data collected through the scan is sent to a dental lab where your aligner trays are manufactured.

When your trays are ready, you’ll begin wearing them at all times, removing them only to eat, drink, and perform your dental hygiene routines. The trays place gentle pressure on your teeth, slowly moving them into alignment.

Every couple of weeks you’ll switch to a new set of aligners. Just like with traditional metal braces, your mouth may feel sensitive for a couple of days, but as your teeth begin to shift there will be no further discomfort.

Am I a good candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign can treat many of the same issues as metal braces, including some very complex cases. However, the only way to know for sure if Invisalign will work for you is to consult with a skilled dental professional like Dr. Song.

During your visit, you’ll learn more about the Invisalign process and how it can transform your smile. You can also discuss costs and billing options while you are in the office.
